Per Ludvigsen

Per Ludvigsen (born October 11, 1957 in Brædstrup , Horsens Kommune ) is a Danish lieutenant general and the deputy commander of the Danish armed forces ( Viceforsvarschefen ).

Life

Per Ludvigsen joined the Danish armed forces in 1976 and trained as an officer at Hærens Officersskole from 1977 to 1981 . Until 1984 he served, among other things as a company commander, of the Den Kongelige Livgarde , an infantry unit of the army, which is entrusted with protocol tasks in front of the Royal Castle in Copenhagen . In 1984 he was also part of the Danish contingent in Cyprus as part of the UN mission United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus . He then served in the Department of Defense for a year before taking a sabbatical .

After that, various assignments followed again with the Den Kongelige Livgarde , also one as a teacher in tactics at the Forsvarsakademiet and a post in the Ministry of Defense. In 1995 he became battalion commander of the life guards and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in the same year . Until 1999 he was deployed again in the ministry, before another deployment abroad followed from 2000 to 2001 as part of the SFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina . He then took over command of the 3rd Jyske Brigade of the Danish Armed Forces in Jutland and was promoted to colonel .

From 2003 to 2008 he was responsible for the planning ( Planlægningsstaben ) and coordination ( Coordinationstaben ), each as head of department, of the Danish armed forces, from 2003 as major general , then as National Materieldirektør until 2011 for the supply of the armed forces. This was followed by a position as General Inspector and Chief of Personnel in the Armed Forces Staff (2011-2013) and as commander of the Hærens Operative Command , which leads the Danish land forces operationally, for example in missions abroad.

In 2014 he was appointed Viceforsvarschef and promoted to Lieutenant General.
