Peter Bartram (born May 4, 1961 in Aarhus ) is a Danish general . He was in command of the Danish Armed Forces from 2012 to 2017 .

Life

Military career

Peter Batram joined the Danish armed forces in 1981 and completed his officer training until 1985. In the same year he was appointed first lieutenant . Until 1988 he was deployed in a unit of the armored force, before moving to the staff and finally commanding an armored infantry company from 1990 to 1991 . From 1991 to 1997 assignments followed in the High Command of the Army and the Army, in the meantime Bartram completed his staff officer and general staff training in 1991 and 1993 to 1994 and was promoted to major in 1994 . He then worked as an officer responsible for training at the headquarters of the Allied Land Forces Schleswig-Holstein and Jutland ( LANDJUT for short ) until its dissolution in 1999. From 2001 to 2003 Bartram was battalion commander, with his battalion temporarily belonging to the Danish part of the Kosovo protection force KFOR . After further assignments in the management of the Danish armed forces, he was given command of the 1st Danish Brigade in 2006 .

As a brigade commander, he was promoted to brigadier general in 2008 . In 2010 he gave up command and moved as Chief of Staff to Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk , Virginia . In 2012 was appointed General and Military Commander of the Danish Armed Forces ( Forsvarschefen ). He held the office for about five years, until January 10, 2017, and finally handed it over to Bjørn I. Bisserup .

Private

Peter Bartram lives in Copenhagen, is married and has one adult son. His hobbies include golf and sailing.
