Islamic Council of Europe

The Islamic Council of Europe (abbreviation ICE ; Islamic Council of Europe ) is an organization that was founded in 1973 to coordinate the work of Islamic centers and organizations in Europe. Its headquarters are in London near the East London Mosque . The council was formed in accordance with resolutions adopted at a conference of Muslim foreign ministers and was supported by King Faisal of Saudi Arabia . Salem Azzam was one of its longtime general secretaries. The council was particularly active in the second half of the 1970s and the first of the 1980s.

In the 1980s, two of his most famous documents were published by the Council: 1981 Universal Islamic Declaration of Human Rights ( UIDHR ; Universal Islamic Declaration of Human Rights ), the human rights basing on the law of God ( Sharia ) and issues such as privacy and torture treated. Followed in 1983 A model of an Islamic Constitution ( A model of an Islamic constitution ) that is both democratic principles into account as well as compliance with Islamic principles. Several other publications addressed related political, social, and religious dilemmas.
