Israel abolishes itself
Israel abolishes itself is the German title of a book by Gershom Gorenberg that was published in the USA in 2012 as The Unmaking of Israel .
content
The historian and journalist Gershom Gorenberg , Orthodox Jew and Zionist , takes stock of the 40-year occupation of the West Bank in his book . Gorenberg documents with evidence and sources the action of Israel to actually take possession of the land against international law through financial, moral and military support of the Jewish settlers , whereby parts of the army are now submitting to the dictates of fundamentalist rabbis, for whom the "holiness" of the Country counts more than loyalty to its own political leadership. Gorenberg meticulously calculates the costs that the State of Israel has incurred as a result of the occupation.
Gorenberg's demands: “First, Israel must stop building settlements, end the occupation and find a peaceful way to divide the land between the river ( Jordan ) and the sea ( Mediterranean ). Second, it must separate the state and the synagogue, free the state from clericalism and religion from the state. Third, and most fundamentally, it must mature from an ethnic movement to a democratic state in which all citizens enjoy equality. "
