General Motors South Africa has been manufacturing Isuzu models in South Africa since 1971 .
The company was founded in 2007 as a joint venture between Isuzu and General Motors South Africa. After a few years, Isuzu increased its stake from 50 to 70%.
Isuzu Trucks South Africa assembles commercial vehicles at the GM plant in Port Elizabeth and achieves monthly quantities of 250 to 350 vehicles. The company has a market share of around 10 to 12% in South Africa.
