Iszoloscope

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Iszoloscope is a rhythm 'n' noise project based in Ottawa , Canada . The name "Iszoloscope" originated from John Cunningham Lilly's experiments on isolation, in which a theoretical "isoloscope" could control all variables. Musically, the project is characterized by a range of experimental, often harsh soundscapes, rhythmic noise and dark ambient . In addition to soundtracks from numerous computer games - for example Doom - Future Sound of London , Coil and Scorn can also be seen as influences.

Iszoloscope released numerous albums and EPs, which were released by the Ant-Zen label, among others , and played at the German Maschinenfest in 2001, 2003 and 2005 , a three-day festival that is widely respected in the scene and takes place every October.

history

Yann Faussurier founded the project in 1999 together with François Bénard, who left it in 2001 before the release of the first CD "Coagulating Wreckage". While this album is a mixture of Death Industrial and Rhythm 'n' Noise , the album "Aquifère" that followed in October 2002 - unlike the dystopian-looking split with Antigen Shift "The Blood Dimmed Tide" released at the same time - consists of harmony albeit strange ambient. The album "Au Seuil du Néant" released in May 2003, however, corresponds again to dark rhythmic noise. "Camanecroszcope" follows in October 2003, a split with Ah Cama-Sotz , which - like "Les Gorges des Limbes" published in May 2004 - creates cold ambient soundscapes of demonic strangeness. The shortly thereafter split with Ebola , like the CD “The Audient Void” that followed in September 2005, is characterized by a menacing, dark breakcore- like sound.
