Itō Sakio

Itō Sakio ( Japanese 伊藤 佐 喜 雄 ; born August 3, 1910 in Tsuwanō in Shimane Prefecture ; † October 17, 1971 ) was a Japanese writer.

Life

Sakio was born in Shimane Prefecture in 1910, the son of actress Izawa Ranja . He attended high school in Osaka, which he left early. During his school days he met the critic Yasuda Yojūrō , went to his apprenticeship and became a member of the Japanese romantic school ( 日本 浪 曼 派 , Nihon romanha ) and the Cogito.

In 1936 he was a candidate for the Akutagawa Prize . In 1949 he received the Iketani Shinzaburō Prize for Hana no koteki ( 花 の 鼓 笛 ) . After the war he wrote novels for girls and life descriptions of famous people for children, which appeared in the library of masterpieces of the Kaisei publishing house.
