Ivajla Kirova

Ivajla Kirova ( Bulgarian Ивайла Кирова ; * 1975 in Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian pianist and composer living in Munich.

Life

She received her first piano lessons at the age of seven and performed in public for the first time at the age of nine. From 1988 she was the first young student to be taught by Dora Lasarowa at the Music Academy "Pantscho Wladigerow" in Sofia . In 1993 she received an award from the Music Academy in Sofia and in 1994 from the Polish Cultural Institute in Sofia for the best Chopin interpretation.

In 1999 she completed a two-year master class from Gerhard Oppitz in Munich and was invited to teach piano at the University of Music and Theater in Munich. Concerts in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Austria followed. Her chamber music partners also included soloists from the Japan-NHK National Television and Radio Orchestra.

In 2001 her first solo CD was recorded. In 2002 she was tutored by the pianist Alexis Weissenberg . In 2003 their live performance at his master class concerts was published in 2 CD sets in Zurich. Her recordings were broadcast on the Bulgarian and Swiss radio, as well as on the Bulgarian and German television.

In 2004 she took part as a jury member at the international piano competition "Classical and Modern" in Bulgaria and was the initiator of the award for the best classical interpretation. In 2005 she held master classes for gifted children at the special school for music, dance and theater in Bulgaria / Stara Sagora . Her repertoire includes works from all eras: from Bach to Beethoven, from Chopin to Rachmaninov and New Music .

In 2013 her poems in Bulgarian, 5 poetic miniatures for piano op. 1, 11 variations for piano on the Bulgarian folk melody "Hoisata" op. 2 and 14 children's songs op. 3 were published.

In 2014 her third CD was released by IFO Classics in Germany. In the same year she took over the artistic direction of the concert series "Bulgarian Music Evenings in Munich" at Nymphenburg Palace. By 2019, around 20 premieres of works by the Bulgarian composers Vladigerov, Kruschev, Raitschev, Zlatev-Tscherkin, Kyurktschiyski, Kazandjiev etc. a. realized in Munich.

In 2016 her fourth CD was released by Con Brio Recordings in the USA and selected as "Recording of the Year 2016" by Musicweb International (World Premiere Recording).

In 2017/18 she played numerous concerts in Hong Kong, China, Bulgaria, Germany, Malaysia, the USA and gave master classes in Kuala Lumpur and Dubai. Jury member of the Olympics Piano Competition in Taipei, Taiwan (2018).
