Player career

Ivan Kopecký began playing football at Slavia Prague , and at the age of 17 he made the leap into the first team. In 1972 the midfielder moved to the then second division club VP Frýdek-Místek , with whom he was promoted to the first division in 1976. Kopecký then coached the Olympic team of Czechoslovakia for two years.

Kopecký then worked for the Czech Association as a youth coach. From 2005/06 he was responsible for the U16s, from 2006 to 2007 for the same team that had now become the U17 selection.
