Ivan Louis

Ivan Louis (born June 19, 1990 ) is a Swiss politician for the Swiss People's Party (SVP). He sits for the Constituency Toggenburg in the cantonal parliament of St. Gallen .

Live and act

Louis graduated from the canton school in Wattwil in 2009 . From 2009 to 2010 he did military service as a full-time servant , part of it in the disaster relief standby association . From 2010 to 2016 he studied law and economics at the University of St.Gallen , and in 2014 for a semester at the University of Haifa . He completed his studies with a Master of Arts in Law and Economics .

He ran for the canton council elections in 2012 on the list of SVP Toggenburg and reached the third substitute place. After Roman Brändle's resignation, he was sworn in as a cantonal councilor in June 2015. He was confirmed in office in the 2016 cantonal elections. The Cantonal Council elected him Vice-President at the June 2016 session, which took two rounds. In the June 2017 session, Louis was elected President of the Cantonal Council. This makes him the youngest ever elected President of the Canton of St. Gallen.

Louis works as an IT entrepreneur and lives in Neu St. Johann .
