Ivo Latin

Ivo Latin (* 1929 - March 2, 2002 ) was a Yugoslav politician. From 1988 to 1990 he was President of the Socialist Republic of Croatia .

Life

In his early youth he joined the Croatian Communist League . He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1957. Ivo Latin was Chairman of the City Council in Zagreb from 1978 to 1982. In the last year of his mandate, he became General Director of Croatia osiguranje .

Since 1984 he has been President of Parliament and in 1986 joined the Executive Committee of the Republic of Croatia. In 1988 he becomes President of the Socialist Republic of Croatia. He held this office until 1990, when Franjo Tuđman won the majority after the first democratic elections.

Ivo Latin died on March 2nd, 2002 of complications from a heart attack.
