List of mayors of Zagreb
This list gives an overview of the mayors of the city of Croatian capital Zagreb , which was once also known as Agram .
The list includes all mayors or presidents of the City Assembly of Zagreb who are equivalent to mayors . The respective term of office lasts four years; there is no limit to the number of terms of office. Direct mayoral elections have been held since 2009 ; before that, the Zagreb city assembly voted on the mayor.
The first mayor was Janko Kamauf (1801–1874), who was also the last town judge of the then still independent Gradec , and of the merger of Gradec and Kaptol initiated by Ban Joseph Jelačić von Bužim , as well as the incorporation of some smaller communities in 1851 to to the year 1857 exercised the office of mayor of Zagreb.
The incumbent mayor is Milan Bandić , born in 1955 , who has officially been in office since May 15, 2005 and has been in office for the sixth time since 2017. Bandić was also mayor of Zagreb from May 5, 2000 to January 21, 2002.
Bandić is also the longest-serving mayor of Zagreb. The second longest incumbent mayor was Adolf Mošinsky , who held office from 1892 to 1904, followed by Većeslav Holjevac , who was mayor from 1952 to 1963.
