Ivy Lilian McClelland

Ivy Lilian McClelland (born May 18, 1908 in Liverpool , † April 2, 2006 in Glasgow ) was a British Romance and Hispanicist .

life and work

Ivy McClelland studied Spanish in Liverpool with Edgar Allison Peers and graduated in 1932 with a master's degree. Then she was Assistant Lecturer and Lecturer at the University of Glasgow until 1956, Senior Lecturer from 1956 and Reader from 1966 until retirement in 1973, then Honorary Senior Research Fellow until 1997 (honorary doctorate at her university in 1989) and finally Honorary Professor from 1997 until her death and Honorary Professorial Research Fellow.

In 1995 a chair at the University of Glasgow was named after her (Ivy McClelland Research Chair).
