D-436-148

The Ivchenko Progress D-436 is a three-shaft turbofan engine with a high bypass ratio from the Ukrainian manufacturer Ivchenko .

The development of this engine, intended as a successor to the D-36 and for use on the Tu-334 , Be-200 , An-148 and Jak-42D-100 , began at the beginning of the 1990s. The first test runs took place on September 3, 1993. The first Tu-334 aircraft with this engine took off on February 8, 2000, which was shortly followed by approval by the Russian air traffic control authority.

The engine has a single-stage fan , which is driven by a three-stage turbine and a booster stage . The six-stage low-pressure compressor is driven by a single-stage low-pressure turbine. The seven-stage high pressure compressor is driven by a single-stage high pressure turbine. The engine also includes a combustion chamber with 18 injection nozzles, a reverse thrust system and a partly electrical and partly hydropneumatic control system as well as an electronic monitoring and diagnostic system.
