József Sándor (born November 19, 1956 in Forteni (Farcád) near Odorheiu Secuiesc , Romania ) is a Romanian mathematician of Hungarian ethnicity.

Sandor studied mathematics at the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj from 1976 to 1980 and then taught mathematics at high schools (Hermannstadt, Odorheiu Secuiesc). In 1997 he went back to teaching at Babeș-Bolyai University, where he received his doctorate in 1999 and professor in 2003.

Sandor deals with analysis (special functions such as gamma functions, geometry of Hilbert and Banach spaces, nonlinear optimization, inequalities), number theory and geometry with a focus on inequalities . Different types of means and inequalities are named after him.

With Dragoslav Mitrinovic and Borislav Crstici he published a handbook of number theory.
