Jörg Potthast

Jörg Potthast is a German sociologist .

Life

After graduating in 1998 with a diploma in sociology from the Free University of Berlin with Bernward Joerges and Hans-Peter Dreitzel , he worked from April 2003 to September 2004 as a research assistant for the BMBF research project Smartbench at the Center for Technology and Society at the TU Berlin . From October 2004 to March 2009 he was a research associate in BMBF and EU-funded research projects on academic spin-offs at the Berlin Social Science Center . After completing his doctorate (Dr. phil.) In sociology in 2006 at the Technical University of Berlin with Werner Rammert and Bernward Joerges, he was Chargé de recherche at the Institut National de la Recherche sur les Transports et leur Sécurité in Marne-la-Vallée from October to December 2009 . From June to July 2011 he was a fellow of the Communicating Disaster research group at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research at Bielefeld University . From September 2010 to July 2014 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology at the TU Berlin. From September 2014 to March 2015 he was a visiting scientist at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research . After completing his habilitation in 2014 at the TU Berlin with Werner Rammert, Stefan Beck and Hubert Knoblauch with venia sociology, he held a temporary professorship for sociology, in particular workplace studies, at the University of Siegen from March 2015 to October 2016. In March 2016, he was visiting professor at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris . Since October 2016 he has been teaching as a professor of sociology, especially workplace studies, in Siegen .
