Jörn Düwel

Jörn Düwel (* 1965 in Rostock ) is a German architectural historian .

Life

After studying art history and German at the University of Greifswald , Jörn Düwel initially worked as a freelance in Berlin in the preservation of monuments and in architecture offices. His dissertation in 1994 was awarded the doctoral prize of the University of Greifswald.

Until 1996 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Fundamentals of Modern Architecture and Design at the University of Stuttgart , then at the TU Darmstadt Academic Council in the field of history and theory of architecture.

Since 2002 he has been professor for the history and theory of architecture at the HafenCity University Hamburg . He is involved in several projects dealing with the history of architecture in the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR .
