history

There are no more traces of an old Jewish cemetery, which was occupied until 1829 and was located next to the New Gate outside the city wall. This cemetery had to give way to a summer bar around 1850.

In 1829, the new Jewish cemetery, which still exists today, was laid out and expanded in 1928. During the time of National Socialism and after 1945, the cemetery was desecrated several times and largely cleared. Only about 25 tombstones ( mazewot ) remain in the cemetery today .

The mourning hall was destroyed during the Nazi era. In 1988 a memorial plaque was placed on the cemetery wall with the following inscription:

" Remember - never forget "

“This Jewish cemetery was devastated in the night of the pogrom on November 9, 1938. The cemetery chapel was completely destroyed "
