The Jewish cemetery located in the district Giesenkirchen in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ), Konstantin road.

The cemetery was laid out in 1882. It was entered under No. K 094 on July 31, 2008 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

location

The Jewish cemetery is located on the eastern edge of Giesenkirchen on the Dycker Schelsen in the gusset between Konstantinstrasse and Mülforter Strasse.

architecture

The small, greened burial area of ​​only 474 m² is accessible through a modern entrance from Konstantinstraße. Nine tombstones ( mazewot ) have been preserved along the outer borders , which in terms of design and use of materials correspond to the traditional customs at the time of their creation. The oldest gravestone dates from 1882, the youngest from 1902. The two grave monuments of the brothers Seligmann and Juda Emanuel, who died and were buried in 1898 and 1900, clearly tower above the other gravestones as marble columns .

The object is important for human history. There are scientific, in particular local, religious and sepulkral historical reasons for its preservation and use.
