Jewish cemetery (Wittenberge)
The Wittenberge Jewish Cemetery was located in Wittenberge , a town in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .
The cemetery was next to the old municipal cemetery on Perleberger Strasse. The gravestones that have been preserved are on a wall in Clara Zetkin Park, but not on the site of the old cemetery.
history
It is not known when the Jewish cemetery in Wittenberge was established, probably only at the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. Originally it was on Perleberger Strasse by the hospital. In 1938 it was completely destroyed. In 1962 it was restored - as far as possible - and a memorial stone was erected.
In 1969, in connection with the redesign of the old city cemetery into a park (Clara-Zetkin-Park), the tombstones were placed on a wall. Nothing is left of the original cemetery.
