The Jewish cemetery in Perleberg , the district town of the Prignitz district in the state of Brandenburg ( Germany ), was laid out in the 19th century. The Jewish cemetery , north of the old town in Sophienstrasse, is a protected architectural monument .

history

Little is known about the history of the cemetery of the Jewish community in Perleberg . The oldest grave stone dates from 1866 (Selig Jacoby, died November 1866), the last burial took place in 1928. The cemetery was partially destroyed during the National Socialist era , but was restored after 1945. There are 19 tombstones ( mazewot ) in the 10 ares large cemetery . A memorial stone commemorates the Jews murdered during the Nazi era.

The cemetery was devastated or desecrated several times between 2001 and 2008.
