Memorial to the victims of the Shoah

The Jewish cemetery in Kroměříž (German Kremsier ), a Czech town in Okres Kroměříž in Zlínský kraj , was established in 1924. In the Jewish cemetery on Vážanská Street, south of the main square by the communal cemetery, only five tombstones have been preserved.

The mourning hall in the form of an ancient temple was built in 1927/28.

history

The first indications of the Jewish community's own burial site in Kroměříž have been available since 1535. A second Jewish cemetery was built in the 18th century and was occupied until the 1920s. In 1924 the new cemetery was laid out.

A memorial for the victims of the Shoah was erected in the cemetery in 1962. In 1997 the remains found in the older cemetery from 1715 to 1927 on Nábělkova Street were buried here.
