Jewish cemetery (Sondershausen)
The Jewish cemetery Sondershausen is a Jewish cemetery in the Thuringian district town of Sondershausen in the Kyffhäuserkreis .

The cemetery is south of the city on Spatenberg . There are around 180 tombs on an area of around 3,000 m². The oldest gravestones date from the early 18th century. They are located on the area to the left of the entrance gate in about 25 rows of graves. Seven rows of newer tombstones from the years 1885 to 1939 stand on the area to the right of the gate.
history
In 1699, an area for a Jewish burial site was purchased south of the city. The last funeral (for Selma Baruch) took place in 1939.
The memorial stone erected in 1988 bears the inscription: “In silent memory of our murdered brothers and sisters 1933–1945”.
In 1990, 1997 and 2003 the cemetery was desecrated .
