The Jewish Refugees Museum, Shanghai ( Chinese 上海犹太难民纪念馆 ) is a museum in Shanghai ( China ).
main emphasis
The museum opened in 2012 and commemorates the Jewish refugees who found and lived in Shanghai during the Holocaust in World War II . The museum exhibits documents, photographs , films and personal items that document the lives of the Jewish residents of the Restricted Sector for Stateless Refugees, known as the Shanghai Ghetto .

In the 1930s, German and Austrian Jews were encouraged to emigrate by Nazi Germany . However, most countries have denied them entry without a visa . Shanghai and the Dominican Republic were an exception. 20,000 European Jews sought refuge in Shanghai.
Location and architecture
The Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum is located in the Tilanqiao Historic Area of Hongkou District on the site of the former Ohel Rachel Synagogue ( Hebrew בית הכנסת "אהל רחל"; German synagogue "Rachel's tent" ).
