The patient's Day is a nationwide day of action , which for the rights of the patient are used. It has been taking place nationwide on January 26th every year since 2016 with events in participating clinics.

The day of the patient emerged from a Germany-wide, non-material merger of various associations and players in the health sector, largely supported by the Federal Association of Patient Advocates in Hospitals eV (BPiK), the Federal Association of Complaint Management for Health Institutions eV (BBfG) and the participating clinics. The motto of the Patient Day 2018 was “Save lives well informed - your contribution to safe emergency care”. The aim was to strengthen patient rights and at the same time pay more attention to clinics and hospitals involved in this area. The day of the patient should help to explain problems in hospitals, to inform patients about their rights and options and to discuss possible solutions. In addition to patient advocates, complaints managers and clinic employees can participate in the organization of the patient day .
