from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jürgen Fuchs (born May 18, 1947 in Waltershausen , † November 4, 1977 near Hirschberg (Saale) ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .

Life

Jürgen Fuchs made three escape attempts as early as the 1960s, which took him to the youth work yard and twice to prison. In 1976 he applied for an exit visa, which was rejected. Since he had no hope of legal relocation to the Federal Republic of Germany, he tried to escape again on November 4, 1977 by overcoming the border fortifications near Hirschberg. He then drowned while trying to cross the flood-leading Saale , which formed the border there. In July 1978 his skeletonized body was found on the banks of the Bleilochtalsperre .
