Laurentius Wocher
Laurentius Wocher SOCist (born April 15, 1856 in Bregenz as Anton Wocher ; † April 24, 1895 ibid) was a Cistercian and abbot of the private abbey Wettingen-Mehrerau .
Life
Anton Wocher occurred in autumn 1875 in the Cistercian - Abbey Wettingen-Mehrerau in Bregenz one, put 1876 ahead of Abbot Martin Reimann his profession and was ordained a priest in 1879. He then taught at the monastery's own Collegium Bernardi , became an archivist in 1881 and librarian of the abbey in 1882. As such, he acquired several thousand books. Since 1890 Cellerar , he supervised the construction of two new monastery wings. Elected abbot in 1893, he had the statutes of the Swiss-German Congregation (later called Mehrerau Congregation ) revised and made several visits to the associated monasteries. He prepared the repopulation of the Parakeet Abbey . Abbot Laurentius died of a stroke in 1895 , only 39 years old. His grave is in the crypt of the Wettingen-Mehrerau abbey church.
