Jürgen G. Heinrich

Jürgen G. Heinrich (* 1949 in Selb ) is a German engineer and emeritus professor of engineering ceramics at the Institute of Nonmetallic Materials at the Technical University of Clausthal .

Life

Heinrich studied materials science and engineering at the Johann Friedrich Böttger Institute in Selb until 1972, and at the Technical University of Berlin , where he received his doctorate in 1979. After research and development work at the German Aerospace Center and Höchst CeramTec , he was appointed professor for engineering ceramics at the Clausthal University of Technology .

In 1991 he received the International Schunk Material Prize. In 2006 he received the Bridge Building Award from the American Ceramic Society and in 2008 he received the Rieke Ring from the German Ceramic Society. He has been on the board of this company since 1993 and was its chairman from 2003 to 2007. From 2007 to 2009 he was President of the European Ceramic Society and is Academician of the Academy of Ceramics. Since 2008 he has been in the Secretariat of the International Science Foundation. From 2001 to 2003 he was Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Metallurgy and Materials Science at Clausthal University of Technology. Since 2008 and 2013 he has been a fellow of the American Ceramic Society and the European Ceramic Society. In 2013 he was appointed Senior Visiting Professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Heinrich is the author of publications in specialist journals, co-author of 37 patents , and author of books. He is also editor of the “Journal of Ceramic Science and Technology” and is on the editorial board of “Ceramics International” and “Journal of the European Ceramic Society”. He was the organizer of the 7th International Symposium “Ceramic Materials and Components for Engines” in Goslar, 2000, and the 10th International Conference of the European Ceramic Society, Berlin, 2007.
