Jürgen Peters (Germanist)

Jürgen Peters (born April 1, 1940 in Flensburg ; † December 26, 2013 in Berlin ) was a German specialist in German .

Career

Peters was Professor of German Literature at the University of Hanover from 1978 to 2003 . He was the author of publications, television features and radio reports on literature of the 18th and 20th centuries and on trivial literature. In 1990 he founded the yearbook "Welfengarten. Yearbook for Essayism" together with Leo Kreutzer. In 1991 he co-founded the literary salon at the University of Hanover. Between 1993 and 1996 he edited the three-volume portrait collection "Von Dichterfürsten und other poets. A short history of literature in Lower Saxony" together with Wilhelm Heinrich Pott and Dirck Linck.
