JNA Hawkins

John NA Hawkins (born July 25, 1907 in San Francisco , California , † April 20, 1966 in Los Angeles , California) was an American sound engineer who received an honorary Oscar at the 1942 Academy Awards for his outstanding contribution to the use of sound in the animated film Fantasia by Walt Disney Studios along with Walt Disney and William E. Garity .

In 1947 Hawkins worked as sound director on the film drama The Devil on Wheels , which was followed by numerous other film works in the same year, such as the film noir repeat performance with Louis Hayward and Joan Leslie and the romantic comedy Lost Honeymoon with Franchot Tone and Ann Richards .

John N. Hawkins died in April 1966 at the age of 58.

In the sequel to Walt Disney's third masterpiece Fantasia from 1940 Fantasia 2000 from 1999 Hawkins was named within the Sound Department as a sound recordist for the Sorcerer's Apprentice segment .
