JIS X 0212

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

JIS X 0212 is a Japanese script character set introduced in 1990.

It supplements JIS X 0208 with 5,801 additional Kanji , Latin and Greek letters with diacritical marks and Cyrillic letters for Eastern European languages. Implementations of this character set exist in EUC-JP as well as in ISO 2022-JP , but not in Shift-JIS , which is why this character set was not able to establish itself.
