The class 9600 ( Japanese 9600 形 , 9600-gata ) is a 1'D - steam locomotive , procured by the Japanese National Railways (JNR) from 1913. By 1925 the JNR procured 770 locomotives.
history
The 9600 class was the first type of locomotive mass-produced in Japanese factories. The 9600 class was commonly known as Kyuroku (nine-six) and was widely used for freight transport across Japan.
In 2012, 43 class 9600 locomotives were preserved in Japan.
