JOS procedure

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The JOS process has been used to clean sensitive surfaces since the late 1980s.

Air, water and granulate are mixed in a special patented nozzle and blown against the surface to be cleaned at low pressure (0.5 to 4 bar). A vortex of rotation is formed in the conical jet, which gently grinds off dirt on natural stone, metal or wood without damaging the underlying texture.

By changing the mixing ratio of water, air and neutral fine granulate, the process can be adapted to different surfaces. Special features compared to older jet cleaning methods are the low air pressure, the low water consumption (30 to 60 l per hour) and the possibility of metering air pressure, water pressure and the proportion of blasting material. The process is used, among other things, in the removal of graffiti , fire damage and the restoration of works of art made of natural stone .
