The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery , abbreviated J. Thorac. Cardiovasc. Surg. , is a scientific journal published by Elsevier on behalf of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery and the Western Thoracic Surgical Association . The journal was founded in 1931 under the name The Journal of Thoracic Surgery . In 1959 it was extended to the current name; the magazine appears with twelve issues a year.
