Jaakko Lyytinen

Jaakko Lyytinen (* 1925 ) is a former Finnish ambassador .

Life

Jaakko Lyytinen is the son of Rakel Maria Lyytinen and Arvo Erkki Lyytinen. Jaakko Lyytinen's son, has been writing for the culture section of Helsingin Sanomat since the beginning of June 2011 .

From 1963 to 1966 he was the Finnish ambassador in Lagos , Nigeria . From 1969 to 1971 he was the Finnish chargé d'affaires in Pretoria . In his reports he pointed to conflicts in South Africa. In 1971 he wrote a confidential memorandum and gave the advice to lower the Finnish diplomatic mission in Pretoria to the level of a consulate. He pointed out that 21 governments had embassies in Pretoria. He categorized these as: 11 western industrialized countries: United States, United Kingdom, FRG, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Canada and Australia. 5 military regimes: Portugal, Spain, Greece, Argentina, Brazil; two neighboring states Rhodesia and Malawi. Israel and two Nordic states Finland and Sweden. In the case of Sweden, he showed that Swedish companies carried out orders in South Africa. Lyytinen was not aware of any reason for maintaining diplomatic relations at embassy level. He was recalled and in 1973 dismissed from the diplomatic service.
