Jabez

Jabez ( Hebrew יַעְבֵּץ) is a person in the Bible. The meaning of the name is given as "He makes pain" or "sad, sorrowful". According to 1 Chr 4,9-10  GNB , Jabez was a respected man from the Israelite tribe of Judah . Noteworthy is his prayer for blessings. There is no further information about Jabez in the Bible . Bruce Wilkinson wrote a bestselling devotional book on prayer.

The Bible also mentions a city in Judah 1 Chr 2,55  GNB , mainly inhabited by the families of the writers .

It is not known whether there is a connection between the biblical person and the place of the same name.
