James Thomas "Jack" Allen (* 1st quarter 1900 in Sneinton ; † unknown) was an English football player . The defender played from 1921 to 1925 for Crystal Palace and Hartlepools United a total of 45 games in the divisions of the Football League .

Career

Allen played for Walker Celtic , a club from Newcastle upon Tyne , in the Northern Football Alliance before joining second division Crystal Palace in 1921 . At Crystal Palace he did not get beyond the role as a supplementary player in three seasons, the defender pair formed at this time Jack Little and Ernie Rhodes , the latter was ousted by Charlie Cross during the 1922/23 season . After a 0-0 draw in September 1922 against city rivals Fulham FC , the Athletic News correspondent praised : "Allen proved to be more than a useful partner for Little and made commendable attempts to reach the strikers with long flat passes."
