Jack B. Child (* 1951 ) is an American amateur astronomer and asteroid explorer.
The software engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory began asteroid photography at the Ford Observatory in 1980 as a supporter of the Planet-Crossing Asteroid Survey (PCAS). In the course of his work, he discovered, partly together with other astronomers, a total of thirteen asteroids between 1992 and 1999 .
The asteroid (4580) Child was named after him.
