The Jacka Valley is a glacial trough valley on Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean . It is taken by the Jacka Glacier , the retreat of which has exposed large parts of the valley.
The valley is named after the name of the glacier of the same name. Its namesake is the physicist Frederick Fred John Jacka (1925-1992) who carried out measurements of the glacier in 1948 as part of a campaign by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions .
