Jackie Levy

Jackie Levy , also Jacky Levy , (born October 28, 1960 in Bet Sche'an ) is an Israeli politician ( Likud ). He was a member of the Knesset and deputy minister for construction from 2015 to 2018 until he was elected mayor of Bet She'an.

Life

Levy was born in 1960 as the second of twelve children of the politician David Levy . After his military service with the Israel Defense Forces , he became assistant to the mayor of Ramat Yishai . In 1989 he was elected to the city council of his hometown and was deputy mayor from 1992 to 1998. In 2002 he was elected mayor and held the office until 2013.

In the 2015 parliamentary elections in Israel , he ran for Likud at number 18 on the list and was elected to the Knesset. On June 14, 2015, he became Deputy Minister of Construction in the Netanyahu IV cabinet .

In 2018 Levy was re-elected mayor of his hometown Bet She'an . For this reason, he resigned from his post as deputy minister and as a member of the Knesset.

Private

Levy is married and has seven children. His sister Orly Levy is also a politician.
