Jagdish Koonjul
Jagdish Dharamchand Koonjul is a diplomat from Mauritius and was chairman of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) from 2002 to 2005 .
After entering the diplomatic service, he was promoted to head of the Multilateral Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauritius. Koonjul was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mauritius to the United Nations until 2005. At times (2002) he was also President of the UN Security Council . In 2002 he was appointed chairman of AOSIS as the successor to Tuiloma Neroni Slade . He handed over this office to Julian Hunte in 2006 after a brief interim presidency from Enele Sopoaga .
