Riihimäki Hunting Museum

The Riihimäki Hunting Museum, also known as Suomen Metsästysmuseo (Finnish Hunting Museum) in Riihimäki , is a museum of hunting history in Finland. It includes hunting exhibits, archaeological finds and collections of weapons.

The exhibition explains the beginning of the Finnish hunting culture around 10,000 years ago and the importance for the daily survival of the Finnish indigenous population. The following exhibition rooms show the fishing gear and methods used by Finnish hunters, fishermen and farmers. Since the 19th century hunting dominated with firearms, this provides the museum's exhibition handguns , ammunition , and military equipment, Wildlockmittel, preparations of animals, hunting clothes and Finnish Customs for hunting . The collections of exotic hunting trophies and the description of safari and big game hunts form a further focus. The Sako-Hall houses an exhibition on the history of local and regional arms manufacturers such as Sako , Tikkakoski and Valmet .
