location

The hunting column is in the Reiterwald on the B 174 Marienberg - Reitzenhain , about 1.1 km south of the Marienberg-Süd junction, on the eastern edge of the road.

Status

The column was restored in 1826, 1904, 1927 and 1956, partly unprofessionally. Damage in several places made some of the lettering difficult to read. In October 2017, the column was dismantled, restored and put back up again in mid-2019. Last winter, a tight wooden box was put over the column to protect it from the elements.

description

The column is square, edge length of the base 71 cm, shaft 56 cm, capital 85 cm. A crown with a diameter of 40 cm sits on the capital; the total height is 190 cm.

The Electoral Saxon coat of arms, which is crowned with leaves, is affixed to all four sides: on the left the Kurschwerter (= imperial racing flag ) and on the right the black and gold bars with a leaf wreath.
