Jahnhalle (Hamburg)
The Jahnhalle in Hamburg - St. Georg was a gym on Grosse Allee (today Adenauerallee ). It was built in 1844 by the oldest gymnastics club in the world, the Hamburg Gymnastics Association from 1816 , and was significantly expanded 40 years later. Important events such as the North German Gymnastics Championships in 1934 took place there. In 1942 the hall was severely damaged by a bomb attack. After the Second World War it was used as a refugee shelter. In 1959 a new Jahnhalle was inaugurated.
