Jakob Drague (* 1780/81 in Berlin , † after 1840 in Autun ) was a Franco-German portrait and pastel painter.

Life

Jakob Drague from Berlin probably began studying at the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin as early as 1797 . In the same year his participation in the art exhibitions of the academy can be proven.

Between 1806 and 1812 Drague , who is believed to have come from a Huguenot family , stayed in Paris. There the enrollment at the École des beaux-arts in Paris on May 20, 1806 can be proven. Drague was already 25 years old at the time thanks to a letter of recommendation from the history painter Jean Simon Berthélemy . After 1812 Drague lived in Lyon , where he also applied for French citizenship in 1832.
