He married Susanna Margarete Maurer (1766–1830), the daughter of the Meckesheimer mayor Georg Peter Maurer . As Vogt and successor to his father-in-law, he held the office of mayor there from 1814. From 1819 he belonged to the second chamber of the Baden assembly of estates , where he was part of the liberal opposition wing, but did not make a significant contribution.
