Yakov Yevseevich Gegusin

Jakow Jewsejewitsch Gegusin ( Russian Яков Евсеевич Гегузин ; born August 1, 1918 in Jusowka (today: Donetsk), Yekaterinoslav region (today: Dnipropetrovsk); † December 12, 1987 in Kharkiv ) was a Soviet physicist .

Life

Jakow Gegusin (English Geguzin) was born as the son of Yevsei Aronowitsch Gegusin and Tatjana Palant. In 1941 he finished his studies at the physical-mathematical faculty of the Kharkiv University . During the war he worked in a supplier for the aircraft industry. The first research work was on applied metallography and foundry technology. From 1950 until the end of his life he worked at Kharkiv University. In 1964 he founded the Chair of Crystal Physics, the nucleus of the Kharkiv School of Crystal Physics.

Services

Jakow Gegusin was a co-founder of the physics of sintering , the basis of powder metallurgy . It was thanks to the commitment of Jakow Gegusin and his talents as a physicist that many students and scientists were introduced to crystal physics . As an outstanding university lecturer and also as a book author, he made a significant contribution to the dissemination of fundamental physical ideas. He was the author of several specialist books on the physics of real crystals.
