Jamaat-ul-Ahrar

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (English “Assembly of the Free”, JuA for short) is a terrorist organization that split off from Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan in August 2014 . The group became known after assuming responsibility for a suicide attack on the Wagah border in 2014. In October 2017, there were unconfirmed reports that Omar Khalid , the leader of the JuA, died in a US drone attack in Paktia province , Afghanistan .

  • On March 15, 2015, the JuA took responsibility for a double attack on two churches in Lahore , in which at least 15 people were killed and 70 were wounded.
  • On March 31, 2017, the JuA claimed an attack in Parachinar in which 24 people died and 68 were injured.
