James Hotchkiss Rogers

James Hotchkiss Rogers ( February 7, 1857 - November 28, 1940 ) was an American organist and composer.

After training in the USA, Rogers studied piano with Carl Albert Loeschhorn and Heinrich Ehrlich and organ with Carl August Haupt from 1875 . He continued his training in Paris with Henri Fissot (piano), Alexandre Guilmant (organ) and Charles-Marie Widor (composition). After returning to the United States in 1881, he became organist at Scovill Avenue Temple and First Unity Church in Cleveland, Ohio. He was still active as a concert organist and music teacher and published more than one hundred works, including several cantatas, songs, piano and organ music.
