James Rawhide

James Rohleder (born April 7, 1955 in Bremerhaven ) is a former German judoka who was runner-up in the 1979 European championship.

Athletic career

The 1.70 m tall James Rohleder fought in the half-light weight, the weight class up to 65 kilograms. VfL Wolfsburg's judoka was defeated by Frenchman Guy Delvingt in the quarter-finals of the 1978 European Championships in Helsinki . The following year he won the semifinals of the European Championships in Brussels against Janusz Pawłowski from Poland , in the final he was defeated by Nikolai Soloduchin from the Soviet Union and received the silver medal.

From 1980 to 1983 Rohleder won four German championship titles in the light weight division. At the World Championships in Moscow in 1983 , he lost in the quarter-finals against Janusz Pawłowski. Half a year later he was defeated by the Italian Sandro Rosati in the quarter-finals of the 1984 European Championships in Liège , after a loss in the hope round against the British Stephen Gawthorpe , Rohleder took seventh place. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles Rohleder defeated the Chinese Wang Shengli with a small score ( Koka ) in his opening fight . In his second fight he was eliminated against the Brazilian Sergio Sano with a coca rating.
